Graduate Student Involvement in Community Service
At Loyola, the motto "men and women for and with others" refers not only to undergraduate students, but to graduate student and all members of the Loyola community. The institution provides opportunities to develop patterns of life-long service and and justice work. The Center for Community Service and Justice invites graduate students to explore the "service options" listed under the headings on the left of this page. Some particular opportunities for graduate students include: Loyola CCSJ has developed ongoing relationships with many organizations in and around Baltimore, which address a variety of community issues through direct client services and advocacy. We invite you to explore how these agencies could connect with your own service or research interests. Participate or serve as a Moderator to help run the activities, facilitate discussion and manage logistics of a weekend immersion in Baltimore City.
- SBO (Spring Break Outreach)
Spend spring break week immersed in a community with a small group of students, engaged in service and learning about the issues, concerns and strengths of local residents.
Participate in a solidarity immersion in El Salvador, learning about the history, economics, politics and life stories of the people in this Central American country.
Help keep our Last Sunday at Beans and Bread and Care-A-Van programs running during the breaks when undergraduate students leave campus.
Donate your resources or time to one of Loyola's many annual collections or programs. These include the VIVA House Bags of groceries and the Presence for Christmas program. Attend one of our many programs or workshops about social justice issues both domestic and international. |
