One-Time Service Opportunities

One time service is...

  • usually, a very specific activity or project,
  • can be done in a specified block of time (a morning, an afternoon, an evening, a Saturday, a Sunday, or a weekend),
  • is designed to meet a specific community need,
  • is an entry point to community service,
  • begins with preparation - a planned activity or discussion that prepares the individual or group for the experience they are about to have (it may be done prior to the day of the activity),
  • concludes with reflection - a planned time to debrief or process the experience and to identify learnings, raise questions or if desired, determine next steps.

Who should participate?

  • Those who are new to service
  • An individual or group with very limited time availability

What are the options?

  1. The Community Service Council (C.S.C.) is a group of Loyola students that plans one-time service events right on campus, throughout the academic year.
  2. You can also sign up to attend other one-time service opportunities on campus organized by the Center for Community Service and Justice.
  3. You can also create your own one-time service opportunity by using the One-Time Service Events Preparation Packet which thoroughly describes how to plan, prepare for and reflect upon your service experience.
