If you or anyone you know is available on any of these days and wants to volunteer, e-mail Erin Shutt, Beans and Bread Resource Coordinator, and copy Margarita Dubocq from CCSJ. Please make sure to e-mail Erin, with copy to Margarita, with enough time in advance to see if there is still room. Do not show up without getting a confirmation from Erin. Spots are available on a first come, first serve basis. Minimum age requirement for volunteers is 13 years old.
The Our Daily Bread Employment Center is a comprehensive resource center for people who are materially poor. They combine the Our Daily Bread hot meal program, Christopher Place Employment Academy, the Maryland Re-entry Partnership, case management, and an array of unemployment, education, referral and emergency services.
This summer, they have two volunteer opportunities available: the Intern Produce Intake Manager and the Volunteer Produce Preparation Team Member.
To volunteer, please email Rebecca Horner or Doris Franz-Poling from Our Daily Bread, and copy Margarita Dubocq from CCSJ.
Project HEALTH is a national non-profit organization that aims to break the link between poverty and poor health by assisting clinic patients with accessing community and government resources. We are part of a much bigger national trend toward innovative social entrepreneurship and we pride ourselves on recruiting volunteers who are truly committed to our vision. Students DO NOT have to be a pre-med or science major to join or benefit from volunteering with Project HEALTH.
If you would like more information about Project HEALTH, we suggest reading an article featuring the CEO of Project HEALTH, Rebecca Onie, in TIME magazine's 100 Most Influential People story.
Please e-mail the program manager, Kellie Burns, if you have questions or are interested in volunteering or visit www.projecthealth.org for more information on the application process.
Since 2000, the Center for Community Service and Justice at Loyola University Maryland has hosted Camp St. Ambrose on Loyola's Evergreen campus. Coordinated by St. Ambrose Center, a multi-service community center in the Southern Park Heights community of Baltimore City, the six week summer camp offers a lively educational environment for about 70 children.
Volunteers are needed to help with activities in campus classrooms (mostly Beatty Hall) and at the Fitness and Aquatic Center from Mondays through Thursdays. The camp will run from June 27 - August 4, 2011. Contact Dennis McCunney at 410-617-2909 if you're interested in volunteering.
