Events Supported by Center for Community Service and Justice October 2006 The 19th Annual Student Conference on Hunger & Homelessness (Oct 27-29, 2006 at Los Angeles ) 
Join 450 students from across the country that are committed to ending hunger, homelessness, and poverty in America and abroad, for the largest gathering of college students working on these issues. Throughout the weekend, students will learn from some of the top activists, organizers, and advocates in the country. - Be inspired by Keynote Speaker, Dolores Huerta, a long-time activist and organizer advocating on behalf of workers' rights. In 1962, Huerta co-founded the National Farm Workers Association with Cesar Chavez, which later became the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee and lead the great grape boycott.

SHARE - Celebrating 25th Anniversary (Sep.30 - Oct 2, 2006 at DC) SHARE is an organization that supports the empowerment of historically impoverished and marginalized communities in El Salvador, as they are changing the structures that keep people poor through an integrated effort that is reactivating sustainable local economies, creating viable rural policies that aid subsistence farmers, and financing projects that provide for the empowerment of women, development of leadership and community organizing. SHARE also has a dynamic Sister Parish and community program where a relationship of accompaniment is created with communities in the US and El Salvador. The organization is celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year, and there are activities in conjunction with this celebration is held in a few different location through out the State, including Washington DC from Sep.30 to Oct.2, 2006. March 2006 Green Food and Band is an event that held once a year. It has been an important fundraiser to help suppprt the women of Caroline Center. The center is helping to enable unemployed and underemployed women to find work in a career with potential for growth and advancement, thus creating a future full of hope for themselves and their families. Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. Southwest Baltimore Quilts is an enrichment program of the Sisters Academy of Baltimore, a tuition-free middle school for girls. This enrichment program is open to fourth grade girls living in Southwest Baltimore neighborhoods including Poppleton, Franklin Square, Hollins Market, Union Square, Barre Circle, new Southwest/Mount Clare and Washington Village. The participating girls will be taught language arts activities, such as poetry writing, that connect the quilting project with theme of the year. The enrichment program also includes academic works, such as math-based components. September 2005 
Eyes Wide Open, is American Friends Service Committee’s widely-acclaimed exhibition of the human cost of the Iraq War, features a pair of boots honoring each U.S. military casualty, a field of shoes and a Wall of Remembrance to memorialize the Iraqis killed in the conflict, and a multimedia display exploring the history, cost and consequences of the war. < Current Events | Current News | Off-Campus Events | Just Art Gallery Events> |
