Three service positions at Beans & Bread Outreach Center

(Start in August/September 2007)

1st position - in partnership with Volunteer Maryland (www.volunteermaryland.org). The Volunteer Maryland Coordinator (VMC) would be placed at Beans & Bread to maintain and expand the existing volunteer program for the daily meal service. The VMC will also spend 10 percent of their time performing direct service. The Volunteer Maryland Coordinator at Beans & Bread will: create program materials; recruit, screen, train, and supervise volunteers for the daily meal program; develop community partnerships and solicit in-kind donations to support the program; evaluate program results and submit regular reports. As AmeriCorps members, full-time VM Coordinators receive a living allowance of $13,000, a post-service educational benefit of $4,725, and health insurance if they are not already covered. They may also qualify for a child care allowance.

2nd position - in partnership with Notre Dame Mission Volunteers, also an AmeriCorps affiliate (www.ndmva.org). This position would be serving as a Client Advocate for Home Connections, the new innovative housing first program serving chronically homeless. The Client Advocate will work with participants to maintain their housing, increase functioning and daily living skills and aid in developing/maintaining community connections. As AmeriCorps members, full-time Notre Dame Mission Volunteers receive a living allowance of $10,900, a post-educational benefit of $4,725 and potential slots in a community living house. Interested? 3rd position is through Jesuit Volunteer Core. This Caseworker position is primarily responsible for conducting in-take and assessment for Beans & Bread clients in an effort to connect them to available resources in the community and assists with the dissemination of resources to applicable clients. This position will also help out with the execution of all holiday and other social events, update bulletin boards and other communication formats for clients and have the opportunity to advocate on a larger scale.
