Social Justice Stations of the Cross

The Stations of the Cross are devotional exercises Christians use to recall the Passion of Christ. They began in Jerusalem with people replicating Jesus' journey to his crucifixion. In later years, Europeans erected a series of shrines to fulfill their desire for pictorial representations. Today every Catholic church incorporates pictorial Stations of the Cross around the perimeter of the church, and they are practiced during Lent in preparation for Easter.

The Social Justice Stations of the Cross help us meditate on the Passion of Jesus and relate to the pain he endured to real injustices experienced in today's world. Through these exercises, a response is always solicited. This year, various groups on campus will prepare reflections, and together participants will ponder how to respond to these injustices present in today's society.

This event will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 4 p.m. in the Alumni Chapel.
