| You’ll probably find that one of the most attractive features of Loyola is its thriving campus community. This is because many Loyola students take advantage of extra opportunities to get involved outside of the classroom. They spend time with friends while expanding their experiences and serving the community around them.

Whether you are a spectator, a competitive athlete or a casual participant, you will find plenty of sports excitement at Loyola. The University offers 18 competitive intercollegiate teams, a variety of club sports as well as intramural sports. Loyola’s state-of-the-art Fitness and Aquatic Center (known affectionately as the FAC) also provides a multitude of opportunities for students to become active. The FAC boasts a two-story indoor rock-climbing wall, a swimming pool, a multi-court gymnasium, as well as cardiovascular equipment and weight machines. Loyola also offers outdoor adventure experiences, such as night caving, sea kayaking, winter hiking, men's backpacking, women's climbing and more! For example, this March, the SGA will bring Girl Talk to campus and, in April, the annual Loyolapalooza festival will feature a concert by Citizen Cope. The annual Relay For Life event is also a popular one, with a night of great food, live music and interactive games such as sumo wrestling... all while supporting a great cause - the American Cancer Society. Loyola also brings a variety of speakers to campus, such as Lynne Rosetto Kasper, host of a public radio show about food, who will appear in March to talk about American cuisine. The mission of Campus Ministry at Loyola is to invite the University community to live, celebrate and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ in the spirit of St. Ignatius Loyola. Campus Ministry strives to provide a united community of Christian fellowship for both Catholics and non-Catholics with the intent of fostering deep spiritual growth. We aim to engage students of all faiths through a rich selection of worship and spiritual development opportunities, including daily Mass, weekly ecumenical prayer, small faith-sharing groups, service and immersion experiences, leadership opportunities, and community- building activities. Students may choose from four dining services on campus. Primo's located in Newman Towers, features stations for pasta, pizza, sushi, deli and wrap sandwiches, prepared dinners, Starbucks coffee and desserts. Students can grab a quick bite at Salsa Rico, serving Mexican food to go, or Surf' n Joe's, featuring Starbucks coffee and sandwiches. In Flannery O' Connell Hall, Jazzman's Cafe offers 'grab and go' items. The Boulder Cafe, located in College Center East, also offers a food court-style dining facility. Students may use funds from their Evergreen account - Loyola's computerized debit systems - to purchase food and groceries on campus. Students who participate in service activities at Loyola often develop a strong sense of responsibility to their community. They recognize that service is essential to a thriving community and that they have the ability to inspire change.
