Daniel Holmes Classics Department Faculty Office Information HU 306 phone and email TBA soon Biography Daniel Holmes received his Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honors in Classics and Ancient History from the University of Queensland in Australia, where he subsequently served as Tutor in Greek Language and Literature. He studied for his Master’s and Doctoral degrees at the University of Virginia. He has taught classes in Latin and Greek language as well as in Ancient Literature in translation and Mythology. His chief area of research is the literature and philosophy that flourished in Athens of the fifth and fourth centuries B.C., and, in particular, the Old Comic poet, Aristophanes. He relishes studying and teaching diverse aspects of the ancient world and has recently given papers on Plato and Aristophanes as well as on Vergil and Petronius. |
