Entry Path for your Master's Degree

Master's Degree in Computer Science is available to you with with your bachelor's degree in any recognized field from an accredited institution.

The key: our unique preparatory courses. You take up to three 600-level preparatory courses, described below. If you have some computing background, the Computer Science Department works with you to decide where you need to start. You then take the 700-level courses that comprise the core and electives of your Master's program.

The preparatory courses are taught by full-time faculty in Loyola's Computer Science Department as well as affiliate faculty members from industry. You receive the critical personal attention which can help ensure your success.


CS 630
Computing Fundamentals I
      

 

Program the way software engineers do it! This course covers fundamental programming in Java, introducing elementary algorithms, data structures, and file handling. Also introduces the basic concepts of computer organization - memory, processor, etc.

      

CS 631
Computing Fundamentals II

Learn about object oriented programming and debugging. Work with elementary data structures such as stacks, queues, linked lists, and binary trees. Learn how software engineers do testing to obtain high quality programs.  
   

CS 610
INTRODUCTION TO Discrete Mathematics

Master the mathematical principles that underly many areas of computer science. Logic, set theory, graph theory and other topics will make you a better programmer and enable you to solve problems more effectively.
