Pope Francis calls people of all faiths to fasting and prayer this Saturday for peace in Syria. Join us!
This Saturday, September 7th, join us in the 9/11 Memorial Garden at 3pm for a Prayer Service for Peace in Syria, coinciding with Pope Francis' vigil in Saint Peter's Square. Our service will be followed by a brief education and advocacy session in Campus Ministry.
As you fast for peace in the Middle East, consider donating the cost of one meal (or more) to Catholic Relief Services' efforts to help refugees from the Syrian conflict! Donate at the service or anytime in Campus Ministry. Also, stop by Campus Ministry this week to receive a prayer card for Syria.
How can I fast?
On the day of your fast, consider eating only one normal meal and one smaller meal, in addition to abstaining from meat. Dairy and fish products are permitted. You are welcome to follow these guidelines as best fits you. Another sacrifice may be more appropriate depending on your circumstances.
How can I help?

Prayer for Peace in Syria
God of Compassion,
Hear the cries of the people of Syria,
Bring healing to those suffering from the violence,
Bring comfort to those mourning the dead,
Strengthen Syria's neighbors in their care and welcome for refugees,
Convert the hearts of those who have taken up arms,
And protect those committed to peace.
God of Hope,
Inspire leaders to choose peace over violence and to seek reconciliation with enemies,
Inspire the Church around the world with compassion for the people of Syria,
And give us hope for a future of peace built on justice for all.
We ask this through Jesus Christ,
Prince of Peace and Light of the World,
