Welcome to CCSJ Immersion Programs!

Just like their name conveys, immersion programs offer you the opportunity to dive deep into an issue—to be engaged intellectually, emotionally and physically in a new community—and to learn and grow through that first-hand experience.

Preceded by weeks of learning and preparation with your small group, you will travel to a carefully-selected host community to learn about an issue “from the inside out.”  Through living for a period of time in this community—eating, sleeping, and doing all of your typical daily tasks—you’ll have the chance to get a different perspective on life and issues facing the people who live there.

During the immersion trip the group will take part in:

  • community events,
  • educational activities,
  • community service and
  • local cultural attractions.

You will get to experience a completely different way of life, engaging in conversations with people from different economic, racial/ethnic and/or cultural backgrounds--conversations that can spark new insights and understanding about our society, as well as new insights into yourself.
