Jump-Start Your College Experience

S.O.S. is a unique service and educational opportunity in which a small group of incoming students, student leaders and administrators stay in a safe, simple place in the heart of Baltimore City. Together, they explore the issues, concerns and realities of people who are materially poor and/or experiencing homelessness. The experience includes:

  • Service with people of all ages
  • Reflections and discussions
  • Interaction with students, faculty, administrators and community members
  • Selected videos and readings

A Unique Opportunity

Student Orientation to Service, S.O.S., gives incoming students who are interested in community service a chance to explore their new home, Baltimore, prior to the start of classes. The experience includes discussions, activities and excursions into the city. All in all, it’s a great way to meet some new friends and jump-start your college experience.
