Please note: This is a general guide for site-based service-learning; your professor or community partner may have different requirements.

First Week of Classes

•Service-learning process is explained by professor or service-learning staff.
•Consider which service-learning placement best suits your schedule and interests (remember that this is a commitment for the entire semester).
•If you need to use Loyola vehicles, you will need to become authorized to drive and then reserve your vehicle well in advance.  Start this process immediately, even if you aren't sure if you'll use it, as the process can take up to 17 days.

Second Week of Classes

•Make a final decision about your service-learning placement.
•Contact the appropriate person with your available service times. This may be a CCSJ Service Coordinator, staff person at the site, or your professor.
•Attend Loyola prep session or onsite training for your site if it is this week.

Third Week of Classes

•Continue communication with Service Coordinator/community partner staff to finalize service times.
•Arrange for visit to agency or begin your service.
•Attend prep session or training for your site if it is this week.

Fourth Week of Classes

•Students at most sites must begin weekly service by this week to complete 20 hours.
