The CIUE is dedicated to honoring urban youth and communities by developing projects that improve the educational experiences of urban youth and creating a community of teachers, learners, and scholars. This commitment to educational equity in schools in urban communities has resulted in the following collaborative initiatives:
|The Institute for Urban Catholic Education (IUCE)
|With funding from the Raskob Foundation and Archdiocese of Baltimore, the IUCE seeks to strengthen partnerships with high-need urban Catholic schools; develop a model of excellence for future partnerships; and disseminate scholarship on effective teaching and leadership, locally and nationally.
|Urban Needs in Teacher Education (UNITE)
||The Loyola chapter of UNITE is a student run organization committed to preparing educators to work in urban settings, engaging urban community to connect with students outside the classroom, and fundraising to support Baltimore City schools, community centers, and other professional development opportunities.
