Please join Amy Wolfson, vice president for academic affairs, and your faculty colleagues for the annual fall Teaching Enhancement Workshop on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in McGuire Hall on the Evergreen campus on the topic of "Race in the College Classroom." Theater Delta will present an interactive theater workshop about managing conflicts around race and social identities in the campus classroom, followed by a few break-out opportunities for further conversation and application.
Each year, faculty members of the Teaching Enhancement Committee (TEC) work with Academic Affairs for an opportunity to come together twice a year as a faculty to reflect on key issues in higher education teaching, pedagogical developments, and to share practical applications for our own classrooms and aims as scholar-teachers. This year, based on faculty feedback and institutional priorities, the TEC is planning an interactive approach to a key topic that affects all campuses right now.

Following "Can I Be of Any Help," part II will continue and deepen the conversation and apply solutions in real life situations. Using engaginginteractive exercises, participants will practice effective strategies for managing classroom conflicts in a safe space.
- Engaging Current Criminal Justice Issues in the Classroom
Faculty-led session hosted by the Office of Peace & Justice Studies that will explore concrete strategies for creating dynamic classroom conversations about racial equality, policing, and other current issues.Participants are invited to bring syllabi and share their own practices.

Faculty Fellows Seminar on Service-Learning and Engaged Scholarship, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. (Sellinger Hall Room 104)
A cohort of faculty learn about service-learning pedagogy and prepare to teach a service-learning course in the coming year. Having completed four days of the course in May and spent the summer integrating service-learning into a syllabus of their choice, Fellows now present their courses and syllabi to one another and invite constructive review and feedback from their colleagues in the seminar this morning. Observers are welcome! 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
At lunch, we will welcome our new Faculty Director for Community-Engaged Learning and Scholarship, Dr. Jean Lee Cole, as well as recognizing our new Faculty Fellows' completion of the seminar and formally welcoming them into the existing community of service-learning faculty.
