Update on FAFSA Processing and Financial Aid Deadlines

Important Announcement for All Prospective First-Year Students and Families for the Class of 2028

Updated as of 4/17/2024

We understand that the financial aid process is a crucial aspect of your college selection journey. The U.S. Department of Education has recently started sending FAFSA data to universities, and we are diligently working to get financial aid packets out to students on a daily basis.

Submit Your FAFSA

If you haven't submitted your FAFSA for the 2024-25 academic year, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible so we can expedite the processing of your financial aid package. Please visit the FAFSA website  and indicate Loyola University Maryland as your school of choice using Federal School Code No. 002078. Should you need more time beyond the May 1 deposit deadline to make an informed decision after receiving your package, simply let us know.

FAFSA Corrections

For those who have already submitted the FAFSA but need to make corrections, the Department of Education has announced that applicants may now make updates to your FAFSA form. Please visit the FAFSA website to access your existing 2024-25 form to make these changes urgently, so we can finalize your financial aid package promptly.

Timing of Official Financial Aid Packages

Financial aid offers have been sending to students who submitted the FAFSA daily. We are committed to releasing additional financial aid packages as swiftly as possible once we receive your updated FAFSA data. We will notify all students by email as soon as your FAFSA data from the Department of Education has been received and again when your official award is ready to view.

Flexible Enrollment Decision Support

Given the shortened timeframe from when aid packages will be available to the traditional May 1 enrollment deposit deadline, Loyola is adopting a flexible stance. We will grant extensions to any student requiring more time beyond May 1 to make an informed enrollment decision. You can make your enrollment deposit extension request here.

Support and Communication

Loyola is committed to providing support and clear communication throughout this process. Our financial aid office is closely monitoring developments and is prepared to offer guidance and assistance as needed. If you do not plan to complete the FAFSA, please inform us to adjust our records accordingly.

Next Steps

  • Submit or correct your FAFSA: If you have not yet submitted the FAFSA, or need to make corrections, please do so as soon as possible.
  • Visit Us: We invite you to visit our campus this month or in May, where we have opened two special Saturday programs for accepted students. A campus visit can enrich your understanding of what it means to be part of the Loyola community.
  • Stay in contact with your personal admission counselor and financial aid counselor for updates and support.
  • Check your email regularly for important updates from Loyola.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these delays. Loyola University Maryland remains dedicated to assisting you and your family in making informed decisions regarding your financial aid and enrollment.
