2014-15 Academic Year

Students currently receiving assistance (or who wish to apply for assistance) under the Federal Student Aid Programs (Pell Grant, Supplemental Grant, Perkins Loan, Direct Stafford Loan, Direct PLUS (Parent) Loan, Work-Study), the Maryland Educational Assistance Grant and Guaranteed Access Grant Programs, or the Loyola Grant and Claver Grant Programs must follow the application procedures listed below, since these awards are based on financial need which must be demonstrated each year.

2014-15 PROFILE Application

Renewal and New Applicants

Register online for the 2014-15 PROFILE Application and then file the 2014-15 PROFILE Application online. The College Board website is http://student.collegeboard.org/css-financial-aid-profile.  Loyola University's CSS Code Number is 5370. See the CSS PROFILE Student Guide for more information on the PROFILE Application.

CSS Non-Custodial Parent PROFILE

If you indicate on the CSS PROFILE Application that your parents are divorced, separated, or were never married, your non-custodial parent must complete the CSS Non-Custodial PROFILE. You will be sent an email which will contain a link and login instructions for the Non-Custodial PROFILE website. Forward this information to your noncustodial parent.

2014-15 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Renewal Applicants

Complete the FAFSA online using your Federal Personal Identification Number (PIN). The FAFSA website is www.fafsa.ed.gov. Loyola University's FAFSA Code Number is 002078. If you have lost your PIN, or need to request a new PIN, you may do so by accessing the Federal PIN website at www.pin.ed.gov.  The FAFSA on the Web Worksheet provides a preview of the questions that you may be asked while completing the FAFSA online.

New Applicants

(Students who did not file a FAFSA for the 2013-14 academic year.)
Obtain a Federal Personal Identification Number (PIN) at the Federal PIN website, www.pin.ed.gov. Parents should also obtain a Federal PIN. Once created, the Federal PIN allows access to the applicant's data in several Federal Student Aid systems and also serves as that person's electronic signature. After receiving your Federal PIN, file the 2014-15 FAFSA online. The FAFSA website is www.fafsa.ed.gov. Loyola University's FAFSA Code Number is 002078. The FAFSA on the Web Worksheet provides a preview of the questions that you may be asked while completing the FAFSA online.

We strongly recommend that you and your parents complete and file your 2013 Federal Tax Return before completing the 2014-15 FAFSA. When completing the FAFSA, select the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) to transfer tax return information to your application. This process will allow your FAFSA to be processed using accurate tax return information preventing the need for corrections at a later date.

If families are not eligible or ultimately choose not to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to update the tax information, the U.S. Department of Education may require us to collect additional documentation, including a certified tax transcript that you would need to obtain from the IRS.

Presidential Scholarships, Claver Scholarships, Athletic Grants

Students receiving financial aid which consists entirely of four-year renewable awards are not required to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or the PROFILE Application. These awards will be automatically renewed if the retention requirements have been met as outlined in your original award notification letter.

Financial Aid Application Deadlines

PROFILE Application

Complete the PROFILE online at http://student.collegeboard.org/css-financial-aid-profile no later than April 15, 2014.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov no later than April 15, 2014. Maryland residents must file the FAFSA by March 1, 2014 to be considered for Maryland State Grant Assistance.

It is extremely important that you and your parents adhere to the financial aid application filing deadlines listed above. The funds available through the federal campus-based student aid programs and Loyola's institutionally-funded need-based grant programs are limited. Therefore, if you do not meet the filing deadlines, you risk being placed on a financial aid waiting list.

Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC)

Parents' and student's 2013 Federal Tax Return information must be submitted to the College Board by April 15, 2014. Learn the procedures for submitting your tax return information via the College Board's IDOC service.

Federal Verification Process

Federal verification is a process required by the U.S. Department of Education to verify the accuracy of the information parents and students submit on the FAFSA. Learn more about federal verification.

Financial Aid Eligibility Notification

Financial aid awards for enrolled students will be available for viewing via "WebAdvisor for Students" mid June 2014, after the verification process has been completed and cumulative grade point averages for the 2014-15 academic year are available.
