Hours & Wages

$13,500 for a nine-month appointment (half stipend, half tuition). There will be an opportunity for summer employment paid at an hourly wage. Starting Date: August 2012.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Candidate must gain acceptance in a Loyola University Graduate Program. Graduate programs include: Computer Science/Software Engineering, Liberal Studies, Pastoral Counseling, Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, Theology, Education, Sellinger School of Business and Management.

Preferred: Sports background, general knowledge in the areas of recreational sports, officiating, club sport management, and programming.  Experience in a supervisory capacity, and experience working with students, faculty, and teams.

Responsibilities

Assist the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports, Club Sports and Intramurals, in the organization and administration of both programs.

Club Sports: The graduate assistant will work directly with the Club Sports officers to coordinate the scheduling of games and practices, motor pool, and travel.  This position will also work with the Club Sport Athletic Trainer on the collection and tracking of all required student-athlete paperwork.  The graduate assistant will help with the supervision and operation of weekend and evening club sport activities/facilities.

Intramurals: This position will assist with managing the intramural staff by helping to recruit, train, and evaluate officials, scorekeepers, and supervisors, as well as assist in the planning and execution of staff and captains’ meetings.  The graduate assistant will help organize all league, tournament, and playoff schedules, and manage communication with staff and participants.  When needed, this position may pick up intramural officiating or supervising shifts.

Lastly, this position will assist in numerous ways with special event programming for the department.   Position requires 20 hours per week at minimum.
