Substance use and abuse by employees causes many financial and non-financial problems for organizations, ranging from injuries, lost productivity, and an increase in health insurance claims. This in-depth session explores the signs and symptoms of substance abuse, the stages of addiction, and supervisor responsibilities.

Working with you is killing me (For all employees)

This workshop is designed for all employees who have worked with someone who makes work impossible. But it doesn't have to be that way. From chronic complainers to idea-stealers to boundary pushers, a toxic co-worker can ruin your day! The amount of time spent worrying, avoiding, raging and obsessing over toxic employees can affect performance on the job and peace at home. In this session participants will learn to recognize the symptoms of a negative workplace relationship and the role each plays in these situations; set boundaries and control reactions to coworkers who cross those boundaries; and “unhook” from difficult interpersonal situations at work.

Transition to Leadership (For supervisors, managers, directors, executives)

This workshop assists new or relatively new supervisors in making the transition to a leadership role.  Participants will define the role of the supervisor, learn about the differences between managers and leaders, and confirm the crucial nature of self-insight and self-awareness on the leader’s effectiveness.

This workshop provides an in-depth view of Loyola’s corrective action and progressive discipline process.  Through classroom instruction and role play, you will learn how to effectively coach employees, draft disciplinary memos and handle difficult conversations.

Critical Thinking (For all employees)

This seminar is designed for employees to focus on how to think critically and outlines the benefits of critical thinking in the workplace. You’ll identify what it takes to be a critical thinker, from judging the credibility of sources to developing and defending a reasonable position. You’ll learn to use the “RED” model in your thinking, as you recognize assumptions, evaluate arguments, and draw conclusions.
