Each semester the national fellowships offices hosts information sessions on various scholarships and research opportunities. In the fall of 2013 workshops are scheduled for the following awards:
The Harry S. Truman Scholarship grants $30,000 in scholarship money toward the graduate education of U.S. college juniors who have demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to public service. http://www.truman.gov/
The Fulbright Scholarship allows graduating seniors to study, conduct an independent project, or teach English abroad. http://us.fulbrightonline.org/
The Gilman, Boren, and Freeman-Asia scholarships provide for or partial funding for graduate and undergraduate study abroad programs. http://www.iie.org/Programs/Gilman-Scholarship-Program; http://www.borenawards.org/boren_scholarship; http://www.iie.org/programs/freeman-asia
The RISE Scholarship permits undergraduate students in science, math, engineering, and technology disciplines to conduct research in Germany. Knowledge of German is not required.
How to Win Academic Awards Workshops train students in how to find scholarship opportunities, prepare applications, write personal and purpose statements, and secure strong letters of recommendation.
