Tenure-Track Research Leave

The new Tenure-Track Research Leave Program guarantees all tenure-track faculty members one semester free from teaching and service obligations once they have submitted an approved research proposal to an external funding agency or organization. This program, approved in 2011, enables faculty members to pursue ambitious research programs, while supporting institutional excellence. The program replaces the Junior Faculty Sabbatical Program, which granted research leaves on a competitive and limited basis.

Loyola encourages all new tenure-track faculty members to take advantage of this generous opportunity. While the information below describes the program in detail, the office of research and sponsored programs is available to answer questions as well as guide faculty members through the grant-seeking process.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis; however it is strongly encouraged that final applications for approval for leave during the next academic year be received by October of the preceding year. For example if leave is desired for Fall 2014/Spring 2015 please apply by October 2013. With permission of the chair and dean, applications will be accepted through the last working day in February for leave the following academic year.
