Public safety is comprised of the police services division and the operations support division. The most visible is the police services division consisting of 40 sworn police officers who provide a 24 hour presence on the Loyola campus using foot, bicycle, and motorized patrol. Each shift is closely supervised by two shift commanders with the authority and responsibility to assure that the policies and procedures of the department are followed.

The operation support division consists of the communications center and the access control unit. The communications center is the monitoring point for all 911 emergency calls, and systems for campus alarms, card key access control, closed circuit television, and fire alarm. It is staffed by trained public safety officers on a 24 hour basis, seven days a week and is located in the Facilities Building Room 200. It can be reached by calling 410-617-5010. The access control unit, which can be contacted by calling 410-617-2239 is responsible for all door control devices and the installation and maintenance of theft and burglar alarms.
