Course Withdrawal

To withdraw from a course, a student must submit a Change of Registration Form to the Records Office or contact the appropriate department office. The Change of Registration form may be found on Loyola Self-Service, select Academics on the left menu bar, then the GR Change of Registration form.  If you are taking a Leave of Absence or withdrawing from the University totally, then please select the proper form (GR Leave of Absence or GR Withdrawal from the University, respectively).

  • Link to the refund policy information: Refund Policy
  • Contact your Accounts Specialist in Student Administrative Services with questions regarding the financial implications of dropping courses.
  • Contact the Office of Graduate Financial Aid, gradfinancialaid.@loyola.edu, if you receive or plan to receive financial aid.

A withdrawal from a graduate course is not official until the form has been properly approved and has the appropriate signatures. The course withdrawal period begins after the registration period ends as defined in the academic calendar. The student's permanent record shows a grade of W for a withdrawal. The record of any student who has received two or more W grades is reviewed prior to the student's continuance in the program. Failure to comply with the official withdrawal procedure results in a permanent grade of F.

The last day to withdraw from a course with a grade of W is by close of business on the dates below:
