Join Outdoor Adventure Experience and your Loyola co-workers on an adventure this summer!  Unless otherwise noted, our trips are designed for beginners who have no experience with that activity.  Our highly trained OAE trip leaders will teach all the skills you will need to have fun and be safe!  Our trips typically run from 9am to 4pm, but may vary depending on the location of the trip. Locations are determined by the trip leaders who, once you register, will contact you with more information on what to bring and when to meet the morning of your trip.

All trips cost $15 per person and includes instruction, equipment, transportation, and lunch.

To register for a trip, simply email OAE@loyola.edu expressing your interest.  We will reply with more information as soon as we can.

Summer 2012 Schedule

Saturday, July 14, 2012: Beginner Sea Kayaking

Designed specifically for those who have never been in a small boat before, our OAE trip leaders will teach you everything you need to know to get started!  We will paddle in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed in protected inlets and marshes, learning to maneuver our boats while watching painted turtles swim under our boats and bald eagles soar above us.

Saturday, July 21, 2012: Intermediate Sea Kayaking

This trip is designed for those who have been in a sea kayak, canoe, or other small boat before.  We will still provide instruction, but will spend more time exploring the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, and, if the group desires, learning intermediate paddling skills.

Saturday, July 28, 2012: Rock Climbing

A favorite sport among Loyola undergrads, rock climbing challenges the body and the mind.  It provides an unique opportunity to spend the day outdoors in a relaxed environment, while encouraging your fellow climbers and being encouraged in return.  OAE's rock climbing leaders have designed this trip for beginners, but, if you have some experience, they are happy to set harder climbs to increase your challenge.

Saturday, August 4, 2012: Day Hiking

Want to spend a day away from the office?  What better way then to take a walk in the woods?  A small group will hike along the Gunpowder River, taking a lunch break by the water and enjoying the natural cooling effect of this beautiful river.  Keep your eyes open for trout as it is a favorite fishing haunt of fly fishing men and women.
