Academic Enrichment Program

All first-semester freshman and transfer student-athletes are required to participate in the Academic Enrichment Program, as well as all returning student-athletes with a cumulative GPA below 2.500.

Exceptions:

  • If a student-athlete has a cumulative GPA below 2.500 but in their last two consecutive semesters (not including summer school) they have earned at least a 2.750 they are exempt from participating in the Academic Enrichment Program.
  • The head coach and/or athletic advisor may require a student-athlete to participate in the program even if they are above the stated requirements.

All student-athletes who are on academic probation must adhere to the requirements mandated by the Academic Standards Committee as part of their probation. The Academic Enrichment Program consists of two components:

  • Academic meetings (weekly or bi-weekly)
  • Study hall hours (minimum of eight hours per week)
  • Academic Meetings

All program participants must meet with their assigned athletic advisor at least once every other week for an academic meeting. During these meetings, student-athletes will review the previous week(s) assignments, report any grades received and discuss any upcoming assignments. This meeting is set by the athletic advisor during the first week of the semester.

All student-athletes are also required to meet with their faculty core advisor to review their class schedule and select classes prior to registration. Each course should have a class syllabus. Student-athletes are to give a copy of each class syllabus to the athletic advisor during the first academic meeting.

Academic Enrichment Study Hall Hours

Weekly academic enrichment study hall hours (eight hours per week) begin on Friday and end on Thursday. All study hall hours must be completed by Thursday at midnight each week. Student-athletes may only complete 4 hours in any given day for study hall credit. Any hours over four will not count toward the required four hours, but will be placed in a bank.

No more than 4 hours from that bank may be used to satisfy the eight hour requirement in any given week. This means no matter how many hours a student-athlete may have in the bank, they must earn at least four new hours every week. Banked hours are not carried over to the next semester. Student-athletes should keep track of their hours.

Failure to complete academic enrichment study hall hours by midnight on Thursday will result in a warning. (Note: A warning will occur and no hours will be awarded if a student-athlete is signed in during their class times.)

Summer School Study Hall Hour Requirements

If a student-athlete is below the grade point average requirement and attends summer school then they must participate in the Academic Enrichment Program during the summer. The summer school study hall requirement is 2 hours per academic class (excluding any art, graphics, internship, photography sign language or video classes).

Locations to Complete Study Hall Hours

All academic enrichment study hall hours must be completed in either:

Language Learning Center hours do not count toward study hall credit.
