Where is The Guilford?

The Guilford is located within walking distance of campus in a beautiful, dynamic community at 3900 N. Charles Street Baltimore www.theguilfordapts.com The Guilford is surrounded by wonderful neighbors and right down the street from a Barnes & Noble, Chipotle, Cold Stone Creamery, Subway, and many other fantastic shops and restaurants!

What is the difference in cost of living on campus and living at The Guilford?

Living in The Guilford will cost the same amount as living in an apartment on campus.

Will my financial aid cover living at The Guilford?

Yes! Since the University has signed a master lease with the Guilford, your financial aid package will be the same as if you were living on campus.

Will my roommates and I have to pay for utilities, cable, and internet?

No. You and your roommates will pay one flat fee, just as if you lived in a residence hall. All utilities, as well as cable and internet, will be functioning when you move in.

I have a car. Will I be able to park at The Guilford and on campus?

Yes! If you have a car, you can park at Loyola and The Guilford at a rate of $625. This is significantly less than the usual cost to park at The Guilford.  On campus parking will include the Fitness and Aquatic Center and the 5104 York Road Lots. The Loyola shuttle will not serve The Guilford.

What does an apartment at The Guilford look like?

Each of the apartments that are being offered to Loyola students are 2 bedroom, 1-2 bathroom apartments that will house four people. You can see a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom floor plan here. Each apartment also has a full-size kitchen including a dishwasher.

What amenities are available at The Guilford?

The Guilford has amazing amenities including an elegant lobby, new study lounge with Wi-Fi, billiards and game tables, a 3,000-square-foot fitness center, a theater with a 96-inch projection screen, and a cozy library with a gorgeous fireplace. The community space continues outdoors with a sparkling rooftop pool, courtyard, grilling area, and gardening plots.

Safety is important to me. What safety measures can I expect at The Guilford?

Each resident will be issued a key fob for entrance into The Guilford and a brass key for entrance into their residence. The Guilford also has a desk attendant available 24 hours a day for any questions or concerns from residents. If you have a car, you can park at Loyola and The Guilford at the rate of $625. This is significantly less than the usual cost to park at The Guilford.

Will I have to bring my own furniture?

Loyola will provide furniture at no additional cost. 

Do I have to leave my apartment during breaks like I do when I live on campus?

No! You are welcome to stay in your apartment for the full time of your contract and do not have to leave during University break periods.

Do I have to have a meal plan if I live at The Guilford?

Yes. You will need to purchase a meal plan. However, students living at The Guilford will have a modified plan of meal points, $675 per semester which is equivalent to $9 a day, 5 days a week.

What are the advantages to being a resident at The Guilford through this special partnership with Loyola?

As a student in Loyola housing at The Guilford, you enjoy all the amenities of The Guilford, but without needing to pay a security deposit or sign and pay for a year-long lease. You can enjoy an apartment that is fully furnished with Loyola furniture. All utilities (including cable and internet) are included in the Loyola housing fee. A Loyola staff member will be on site, prepared to assist and support students in the Loyola housing there. And campus police provide support to students in Loyola housing at The Guilford.

What are the qualifications for applying?

Priority will be given to groups of four who are rising seniors. Each student’s conduct record will be taken into consideration and a lottery system will be used to determine which eligible groups will be housed at The Guilford.

Since The Guilford is different from the traditional residence halls, do all Loyola rules and expectations still apply to me?

While The Guilford is not a traditional residence hall, it is considered Loyola housing so all the same rules and expectations do apply.  All students whether on or off campus are expected to abide by the Community Standards.

Visit The Guilford at an Open House. Check your email for more information. Catch a shuttle from Newman and ride to The Guilford, where you can tour the complex and visit one of the beautiful apartments.
