Sophomore Week

DirectionA whole week of activities designed just for sophomores! Held each fall, SophoMORE Week provides an introduction to the challenges and opportunities for students during the sophomore year at Loyola, as well as a taste of all the office of student engagement has to offer sophomores. Specific schedules vary each year, but events usually include a kick off event, a workshop series session, a Mystery Bus outing, and more.

Monday, Sept. 15

Find out more about what makes sophomore year great! Stop by the tables outside of student engagement to meet the staff, talk with your class president and assembly, get some information about fun things to do this year, and enjoy some free ice cream and giveaways!

Be Engaged: Sophomore Year 

Tuesday, Sept. 16

While sophomore year brings new questions, it also offers you the chance to meet new people, learn more about yourself, and discern your life’s direction. Enjoy some free pizza while learning about some of the things you can do to make the most of your sophomore year.

The Career Center Open House

Wednesday, Sept. 17

Looking for an internship? Wondering how your major can help you find a great job? Stop by the open house to meet The Career Center staff members and learn more about their program offerings and services, including career advice, résumé critique, and self-assessments. www.loyola.edu/thecareercenter

Govanstowne Farmers Market 

Wednesday, Sept. 17

Want to explore more of what Baltimore has to offer? Mingle with local community members, purchase fresh produce grown locally, and grab a few cupcakes to share with your roommates—all at the Govanstowne Farmers’ Market! Considering study abroad? One of the hallmark experiences offered here at Loyola, studying abroad expands your Loyola education to the far reaches of the world. Come to this session to hear what other students have to say about this life changing experience.

Wings & Workshops 

Friday, Sept. 19

Want to participate in on-campus interviews? Come to this marathon workshop to complete all three (3) required workshops (Resume Writing, Interviewing I, and Interviewing II) in one sitting in order to participate in on-campus interviews and prepare for next week’s Practice Interview Program. Mystery Bus

Come out for the FIRST Mystery Bus of the year! If you aren’t familiar with Mystery Bus, this is an experience exclusive to sophomores that offers the opportunity for an undisclosed, off-campus adventure. Enjoy a little taste of Baltimore! For a clue to this month’s location, visit: the Mystery Bus Page. Visit us in Seton Court 4508A by Wednesday, Sept. 17, in order to reserve your spot

OAE Sophomore Adventures: Caving

Sunday, Sept. 21

Get away from campus and explore some caves with your classmates on this sophomore-only adventure. No prior experience is necessary. This event is sponsored by the department of recreational sports’ Outdoor Adventure Experience (OAE).
