What is Summer Housing and am I Eligible?
Summer Housing at Loyola is the opportunity for Loyola University Maryland students enrolled in summer classes at Loyola to live on-campus while attending those classes. Students who wish to apply and live in on-campus housing during the summer must meet the following criteria :
- You must be a Loyola University Maryland student
- You must be enrolled in a class at Loyola University Maryland for credit, working in an approved University office or department for a minimum of 10 hours per week, be a Hauber Research Fellow, be a Maryland Governors Summer Internship Participant, a Kolvenbach Award Winner, or have been otherwise approved to live in University housing by the Office of Student Life

The cost of housing for summer 2014 is as follows:
Session #1 (6 weeks): $1068
Session #2 (5 weeks): $890
Entire Summer (11 weeks): $1,958

Phase One: Intent to Live in Summer Housing
If you are planning on living on campus for the upcoming summer session(s), you will need to complete your Intent to Return to Campus Housing through RoomRez (located on the Inside Loyola page), even if a department is paying your summer housing. The open enrollment period to declare your Intent to Live in Summer Housing begins April 23, 2014 at 12:00 PM. There is no end date to Summer Housing Registration, however, preference will be given to students that register before May 2, 2014. You will need to log in to your Inside Loyola account and click on the link called RoomRez Housing Portal using your Loyola Username and Password. During this phase, you will apply for housing for the upcoming summer, and update your home and emergency contact information. You will then have the opportunity to sign your summer housing contract. If you do not sign your contract you will not be able to complete this phase or go through with the remainder of the process.
The Summer Sessions are listed on the RoomRez Portal as follows:
- Summer 14 Session I - Select this term if you are living on-campus for Session I only
- Summer 14 Session II - Select this term if you are living on-campus for Session II only
- Summer 14 Session I & II - Select this term if you are living on-campus for the Entire Summer
If you complete your Intent to Live in Summer Housing, you will be given the opportunity to request summer roommates. Please keep in mind that all students must complete Phase One in order to request a roommate. We cannot guarantee the fruition of all request.
Phase Two: Roommate Requests
During Phase two, students will have the opportunity to request the roommates they would like to live with in summer housing - this phase can take place only after you have completed Phase One. You do NOT have to create a roommate group. You will need to email Jacquis Watters at firstname.lastname@example.org with any roommate requests you may have. Students can create complete groups of 4 or 6 people. Students can all request a specific direct roommate. Student Life will assign you roommates if you do not have a request for roommates. We cannot guarantee the fruition of all request. You must email to Jacquis Watters by May 4, 2014 at 5pm.

Please remember, for Summer Housing, you do NOT need to be in a roommate group. Additionally, you do NOT select a room. Student Life will assign students to their summer room assignments and try to accommodate all created roommate groups and special roommate requests. Student Life will attempt to accommodate all request, however assignments are based on many factors, such as the summer sessions that students will be attending and the spaces available. Additionally, please keep in mind that you can only create a group with those who have officially applied for summer housing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I live on-campus for the summer if I am taking a class at another university?
A: No. Only students enrolled at Loyola for the summer can live in on-campus summer housing.
Q: Can I live on-campus while taking an internship?
A: Only Loyola students enrolled in a summer course for an internship may live on-campus for the summer.
Q: Can I request a specific person(s) to be my roommate?
A: All students living on-campus during the summer can request specific roommates. All efforts are made to accommodate roommate request, however, Student Life cannot guarantee that all roommate requests can be accommodated. Please follow the outlined instructions above for request roommates.
Q: Where is summer housing located?
A: Summer housing will be located in Seton Court.
Q: If I currently live on-campus, can I leave my items in my spring housing assignment until I move-in my summer housing assignment?
A: Student Life will automatically grant a contract extension for current students who are living in summer housing (for the whole summer or Summer Session I ONLY) for their items only. The contract extension will specify a location (spring or summer housing assignment). All students who are leaving items must have these items packed neatly, and the rest of the apartment clean and ready for inspection.
Q: How much does parking cost for the summer?
A: Parking services does not assess a fee for summer parking. All students with a vehicle on-campus during the summer may park in any legal west side of campus residential area spaces. Students may not park in service vehicle spaces, fire lanes, or otherwise specifically designated spaces.
Q: Can I request a specific apartment to live in for the summer?
A: Because Student Life strategically places students in spaces over the summer, students cannot request a specific space. For those students currently living in Seton Court, or assigned to a space in Seton Court for the fall 2015 semester, Student Life will make all attempts to assign them to the same space.
