Govanstowne Farmers' Market

The Govanstowne Farmers’ Market was founded in 2011 and is sponsored by Loyola University Maryland, the York Road Partnership, and the Govanstowne Business Association. The Farmers’ Market seeks to provide the York Road community of north Baltimore City with produce that is affordable, fresh, and local.

The market was a product of a 2010 “Loyola Is Listening” Project, a survey of the local community surrounding Loyola. Community members indicated that food access was a main need in the area, stating that they needed either a farmers’ market, a food store, or a community garden in the area. Loyola established the Govanstowne Farmers’ Market in an effort to meet this community need.
