Secure File Storage is a technical solution developed by Loyola's Technology Services department to address the security challenges in protecting unstructured data.
What is “Unstructured Data”?
It is those pieces of data that are stored outside of a database structure. Data stored in file types such as MS Office and PDFs.
How Does It Work?
- Automated processes scan file shares and identify files that contain highly-sensitive data.
- Those files are then tagged and moved automatically into the Secure File Storage area.
- In the original directory, the moved file is replaced with a file stub.
- When you double click on file stub, it will take you to a link that provides on how to access the file.
