Voice Recognition System

Dial the University’s main line, ext. 2000 (on campus) or 410-617-2000 (from off campus). When you hear the voice greeting, say the first and last name or the department you wish to transfer to. You will then be connected to that person’s extension or department.

Employee Discount on Cell Phones

As a Loyola University employee, you may be eligible for discounts on cell phones, voice and data plans through Verizon and AT&T.

Obtain a phone extension

Phone extensions are assigned by the office of technology support (OTS). Please contact the office of technology support at ext. 5555 or submit a request to ots@loyola.edu.

Make an off campus call

  • Dial 9 + area code + phone number
  • If you’re calling long distance:  Dial 9 + 1 + area code + phone number
  • For quick access to area codes, you can visit:  www.allareacodes.com

Make an international call

Dial 9 + 011 + the country code + the city code + the phone number. For your convenience, here is a link to a very effective website to assist you with your overseas calls: www.countrycallingcodes.com. Not all phones have access to this feature.

Telephone System Functions (Evergreen Campus)

  • Camp On, Automatic
    Busy signal, stay on line.
    To cancel: Hang up.
  • Camp On, Callback
    Busy signal, press CAMP or FLASH # 1, hang up.
    To cancel: Get dial tone, press ##1, hang up.
  • Call Forwarding
    Wait for dial tone, press #9, dial extension, hang up.
    To cancel: Get dial tone, press ##9, hang up.
  • Conference Call
    Call your first party, press FLASH, dial extension or dial 9 and outside number,
    press CONF or FLASH *4 to add each party.
  • Connect
    Press CONNECT, to reconnect with a transfered call.
    Press CONNECT, to connect with a Camped on Call or a Parked Call.   Consultation Call
    Press FLASH, dial the extension or 9, and outside number.
    To reconnect to the first party: Press CONNECT.
  • Hold
    Press HOLD, hang up.
  • Park
    Park allows you to transfer a call to an extension and hold it there. The call will not ring at that extension. This feature is useful when you want to continue a conversation at an idle extension. Press PARK or FLASH *6, dial extension, hang up.
  • Pick
    Call Pick: Get dial tone, press PICK or *3 and ringing extension number.
    Group Pick–up: Get dial tone, press PICK two times or **3.
  • Repertory Dialing (.)
    To set up: Get dial  tone, press SET or *566, press REDIAL button, key in digits and features, hang up.
    To make call: Press desired REDIAL button or select line button, press desired REDIAL button.
  • Ring Tone
    Press *572 and press numbers 1 – 8 for the different ring tones. The last digit keyed in is your phone’s ring tone.
  • Save and Repeat
    To save: Get dial tone, dial 9 and outside number or dial extension, press SVRPT or FLASH #4, hang up.
    To call: Get dial tone, press SVRPT or #7.
  • Station Speed
    To set up: Get dial tone, press STASP twice or ##3, dial Station Speed Code (0–9), dial 9 and outside number or extension, hang up.
    To make call: Get dial tone, press STASP or #3, dial Station Speed Code.
  • Transfer
    Press TRANSFER, dial extension, announce caller, hang up. 

Telephone System Functions (Columbia, Timonium, York Rd., Library, Flannery O'Conner, Rahner Village, RAC)

  • Callback
    Busy signal, press CALLBACK or dial #1, hang up.
    To cancel: Get dial tone, press ##1, hang up.
  • Forwarding
    Wait for dial tone, press #91, dial extension, hang up.
    To cancel: Get dial tone, press ##91, hang up.
  • Conference Call
    Call your first party, press TRANSFER which places party on consultation hold. Next, dial second party, after party answers, press CONF or TRANSFER to join all the parties.
    To reconnect to the conference when a called party isn’t joining, press CONNECT.
  • Connect
    Press CONNECT.
  • Consultation Call
    Press TRANSFER, dial the extension or 9 and outside number. To reconnect to the first party: Press CONNECT. Consultation
  • Call
    Press TRANSFER, dial the extension or 9 and outside number. To reconnect to the first party: Press CONNECT.Hold
    Press HOLD, hang up.
  • Last Number Redial (LNR)
    Press the Last Number Redail (LNR) key. OR, get dial tone enter ##4. This will call the last number you dialed.
  • Park
    With caller on line, press TRANSFER dial *6, dial extension where you want to park the caller. Hang up.
  • Pick
    Call Pick: Get dial tone, press PICK or *3 and ringing extension number.
    Group Pick–up: Get dial tone, press PICK two times or **3.
  • Ring Tone
    When your phone is idle, press the + or – key. Then press one of the following digits: 1 for Ring Volume. 2 for Ring Tone, 3 for Alert Tone. If you want to exit without making changes, press #. To adjust settings press + or – keys. To save press the + and – keys together.
  • Saved Number Redialed (SNR)
    To dial your saved number press the (SNR) key or get dial tone and dial #4. Saved Number Redial, lets the user save a number that was dialed, by pressing the (SNR) key during the call or busy signal.
  • Station Speed
    To set up: Get dial tone, press SPEED twice or ##3, dial Station Speed Code (0–9), dial 9 and outside number or extension, hang up.
    To make call: Get dial tone, press SPEED or #3, dial Station Speed Code(0–9).
  • Transfer
    Press TRANSFER, dial extension, announce caller, hang up. 

PhoneMail

Access PhoneMail

Dial your PhoneMail direct access number, such as 2110 (staff and faculty) and 6220 (students). Key in your PhoneMail box number, followed by #. PhoneMail will then ask for your password; the default password is 1 1 1 (three ones).

To change your password

The first time you access PhoneMail, enter your default password and press #. PhoneMail will prompt you to create a personal password (7 - 24 digits).

To change existing password

Access PhoneMail, then press:

  • 9 for mail box options
  • 3 to change your password

Record Your Name

Access PhoneMail, then press:

  • 8 for answering options
  • 4 to keep your recorded name or press
  • 1 to record or re-record your name (first and last ONLY!)
  • 4 to keep your existing recorded name

Personal Greetings

Access PhoneMail, then press:

  • 8 for Answering Options
  • 1 for Greetings
  • 1 for Regular Greetings
  • 1 for “When no one answers your phone”
  • 1 to record a personal greeting, 
  • 2 for Busy Greeting
  • 1 to record a personal Busy Greeting

Other options:

  • * 73 to replay the greeting you just recorded or * 61 to delete and re-record the greeting
  • * # when you complete the recording

Listen to your Messages

Access PhoneMail, then press 3

To navigate through messages, press:

  • * 2 to skip forward to the next header (message introduction)
  • * 6 to delete the message immediately
  • * 72 to skip back to the previous header
  • * 73 to replay the entire message
  • * 78 to replay the previous eight seconds of the message
  • * 98 to move ahead eight seconds into the message

While listening to a header, press:

  • 2 to skip from one header to the next
  • 3 to skip to the header in progress and listen to the message
  • 72 to skip to the previous header
  • * 91 to skip through the message queues

What to do after you listen, press:

  • 6 to delete
  • 4 to save
  • 73 to replay

After you delete or save a message, you can press:

  • 1 to record and send an answer to the message sender or
  • 70 to call the person who sent you the message or
  • 9 to forward the message to another extension or
  • # to continue to the next message
