Courses

ED 202  Child and Adolescent Development. This course focuses on cognitive, physical, and social-emotional development from conception through adolescence. Students work toward understanding important theories of child and adolescent development and to reinforce their understanding through service learning with children in an inner-city parochial school.

ED 205 Educational Psychology. Explores major theories and principles of learning, motivation, development, and assessment and their application to the classroom.  The course also examines critical issues in education.  For elementary education majors and secondary education minors. 

ED/BL 324 Substance Abuse and Its Effects in Early Adolescence. In this service-learning course, students will learn about the problems and effects of drug abuse among early adolescents living in an urban environment and apply their learning by teaching, in teams of three, an 8-hour unit on drugs and their effects to middle school students in Baltimore city parochial schools. Enrollment is limited to 10 seniors and 5 juniors.

PY667/PY886 Psychology and Spirituality. Examines the role of spirituality and fiath in mental health and psychotherapy from a variety of spiritual perspectives.
