Her area of expertise and research is Critical Media Literacy Education, an emerging education field in the US whereby students learn to become critical viewers, consumers and creators of media, from television to radio to the internet. She was influenced to pursue this field during her previous K through 12 teaching experiences when she saw how influential the media and popular culture was with her students.
