1. Get a copy of CompactPro from a computer that has it or from an Internet site (such as http://www.ots.utexas.edu/mac/pub-mac-compression.html#compact-pro-151).
2. Double click on the CompactPro application (inside the CompactPro folder).
3. From the Archive menu, select Add...
4. Make sure that the two check boxes at the top of the window are not checked.
5. Use the standard Macintosh Open Dialog box to find the file or folder you want to compact and save.
6. When the file is selected, click on the Add button and then the Done button.
7. From the file menu, select Save.
8. Use the dialog box to select a location on the Hard Drive to save the file.
9. Give the file a name that ends in .sea, such as MyHyperstudio.sea.
10. Click on the checkbox labeled Self Extracting Archive so that it is checked.
11. Click on the Save button.
12. You have now saved a compacted version of your file onto the hard drive. If this is small enough to fit on a disk, you can copy this to a disk and skip to instruction #22.
13. If this is not small enough to fit on a disk, you will have to segment the file.
14. From the Misc menu, select Segment...
15. Select your disk size (probably high density disk if you are using a blank, newly formatted high density disk).
16. Click OK.
17. Use the dialog box to select a location on the Hard Drive to save the file.
18. Click on the checkbox labeled Self Extracting Archive so that it is checked.
19. Click on the Save button.
20. When asked for the name of the next segment, click on Create.
21. You will now see several files on the hard drive with th name of your file, ending in .sea.#1, .sea.#2, ... These files should be just the right size to fit on an newly formatted disk.
22. Completely erase enough Macintosh disks for each file, and copy each of the files to a different disk.
23. You have now saved your project on separate disks. When you get to another Macintosh computer where you want to use the files, drag each of the files from each of the disks to the hard drive of that computer.
24. Double-click on the first file (the one ending in .sea.#1). You will be asked to locate each of the other files (segments of the archive) by selecting them and clicking on the Load button.
25. When you are asked to locate the destination folder, pick the place on the hard drive where you want your file or folder to appear and click the Extract button.
26. After a few minutes, your file or folder should be exactly where you told the program to put it, just as it was when you saved it.
27. Drag the compacted files (the ones ending in .sea.#1, .sea.#2, ...) from the hard drive to the trash and empty the trash. Be sure not to delete the ones from the floppy disks so you can put the file on other computers by following instructions 23-27.
