Plan-A-Project Project

Implementing Internet projects in your classroom requires a great deal of planning. Chapter 4 of the textbook describes the process of planning a project. Follow these steps to plan an original multi-classroom project. Follow the steps in detail as if you are actually going to carry out the project (hopefully, you will carry out the project with your students next semester, but that is not a requirement for this class). Document all the steps you took or plan to take in your report, including:

• describing your curriculum-related goals
• details of the activity structure you have chosen
• a "literature-review" discussing examples of other similar online projects
• details of your project, suitable for a public announcement of your project
• a plan for how you will advertise your project to attract other telecollaborators
• a plan for what you will do once telecollaborators express interest in your project
• a description of the kinds of ongoing communication you will maintain
• a description of your plans for closure, such as what final product telecollaborators will get at the end

This plan should be detailed enough so that you will know exactly what you are doing if you choose to do the project.

Minimum Grading Criteria

• Create a detailed plan with all the elements listed above as described in the textbook
• You should create this in the form of a web page that includes correct HTML tags (although it is not required that you use HTML to create the page); you might wish to create some of the material as pages that will be used as the project's web site if you choose to implement the project
• All your work should be professionally presented, including correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Note that you should plan for telecollaboration with unknown partner classrooms/teachers even if you expect to do this project on a small scale with other teachers that you know.

If the minimum grading criteria are met, you will receive a B for this assignment. The grade of A is reserved for outstanding work that goes beyond the minimum criteria. See the rubric for more details about grading criteria.

What To Hand In

• A copy of your detailed plan/web page
• (Optional) Paragraph describing how you have exceeded the minimum grading criteria.
• Note that the best way to hand in work is by putting it on the Web and emailing the URL to the instructor. If it is not submitted that way, all work should be submitted electronically via the Blackboard Digital Dropbox; you should put ALL files that are part of the assignment in a single folder and compress it in Zip format to save the files as a single archive.
