- A Blanket Purchase Order for frequently used goods and services may be issued to a vendor for a fixed period of time. Commodity managers issue such purchase orders to vendors selected through a competitive process. College personnel may place orders against blanket purchase orders as requirements dictate.
- Commodity Managers are individuals who have recognized expertise in the purchase and use of specific goods and services that may be used by one or more College departments. Commodity managers are identified by the Director of Facilities Operationsand should seek competitive bids for purchases of $5,000 or above. A commodity manager may issue a blanket order as is done in the case of office supplies or may make individual purchases as in the case of computer hardware and/or peripherals. A commodity manager may delegate responsibility for purchasing specific commodities to individuals within their department who serve as purchasing coordinators or buyers.
