Bio M.S., Statistics, University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, 1997. B.S., Mathematics, University of South Carolina, 1992. Professional Experience: I have been an instructor of mathematical sciences here at Loyola since the fall of 1997. I teach three classes per semester. The courses I have taught include Introduction to Statistical Methods and Data Analysis (ST110), Biostatistics (ST265), Quality Control (ST491), Applied Calculus (MA151), Precalculus (MA109), Mathematics: Numbers and the Real World (MA107), Probability and Statistics for engineers (EG381/ST381), and Fundamentals of Math (GB500), a graduate business course. I have also taught First-Year Experience (FE100) and an Alpha version of ST110. As a graduate assistant at the University of South Carolina, I taught an introductory statistics course which included a laboratory component. The laboratory component allowed students to apply statistical concepts learned in the classroom to practical situations. Before attending graduate school full-time from 1995 - 1997, I taught mathematics at Greenwood High School (my alma mater!), Greenwood, South Carolina, from 1992-1995. Other interests: So, what do I do when I am not teaching or attending meetings related to teaching? Well, I am a big, BIG fan of Gamecocks sports. What is a Gamecock? So glad you asked! Click here to find out! I am particularly fond of the South Carolina track & field team and cross country team, as I am a former member of those teams. I also love to keep up with the football, basketball, and baseball teams. Go Gamecocks! Of course, I also root for the Greyhounds in all sports. Go 'Hounds! And for all of you New York Giants fans, yes I am a proud RAVENS fan!! (I was a Ravens fan when Ravens weren't cool...) I also support the Orioles and the Atlanta Braves (I'm a Southerner, after all...the Braves are in my blood!). Over the past few years, I have taken up the sport of tennis. I enjoy playing both singles and doubles, but most of my playing time is spent playing mixed doubles. If you are interested in getting involved with area tennis competition, contact Baltimore Tennis Patrons or go to the United States Tennis Association's (USTA) website. When I am not teaching or playing tennis, I am hanging out with famous people. Here I am with Missouri statistics professor Lori Thombs and Hootie and the Blowfish lead singer Darius Rucker. I am a big HBF fan and got to see them in concert twice in Baltimore in 2005 - even once at Loyola! |
