Loyola implemented a Single Stream Recycling program in 2006, which allows the University to divert a large percentage of its waste to be recycled (see chart below). By allowing all recyclables to be comingled, we make it much easier for the Loyola community to recycle. In 2010, Loyola placed 10th overall in the national Recyclemania Competition. While our recycling rate is one of the best in the nation, there is still a lot of opportunity to improve both recycling percentage and waste reduction in general. | | | | | | 2005-06 | 1130.63 | 255.15 | 1385.77 | 81.54% | 18.46% | 2006-07 | 1101.22 | 416.47 | 1517.69 | 72.41% | 27.59% | 2007-08 | 1082.00 | 524.51 | 1606.51 | 67.74% | 32.29% | 2008-09 | 1129.92 | 637.73 | 1767.64 | 64.46% | 35.54% | 2009-10* | 559.03 | 503.31 | 1062.33 | 55.06% | 44.94% |
