Loyola's Graduate Program in Computer Science develops professionals who can author software-based computer solutions that are reliable, efficient, economical, and timely for single-component or small system problems. Upon graduation, you will know how to analyze algorithms for space and time limits, properly build and test asynchronous systems, and design and implement databases, among other core competencies.the emphases in courses taken lies in software design, systems integration and advanced data structures. A relevant body of knowledge exists throughout the computer science curriculum leading to the development of skills and mastery of the current trends and challenges within the software industry.

The professionally focused Master of Science in Computer Science curriculum includes the study of advanced algorithms, operating systems, computer networking, programming languages, and database systems. You may also take courses in object-oriented analysis, project management, modern analysis and design methods, and contemporary quality assurance techniques. In addition to an Independent Study course, classes in coputer graphics and the interaction between humans and computers are also available. Loyola's program provides a rich diversity of courses drawn from the strengths of a faculty with more than 25 years of experience in teaching at the graduate level.

The program is open to qualified applicants with any undergraduate degree. Depending on your background and training, a foundation sequence of up to five courses is available to prepare you for the required Computer Science courses. You may waive some or all of these preliminary courses if you can demonstrate competency in the subject matter.
