The process of developing and maintaining large-scale software-based systems is complex. It involves detailed analysis, sophisticated techniques and a sense of how the system interacts with other entities. Software Engineers are the professionals charged with this task. Software Engineers have, in addition to extensive knowledge of the fundamentals of computer science, knowledge of the techniques and management methods requisite for the construction of these complex systems.
The Master of Science in Software Engineering (MSSE) program trains professionals to master and manage this complexity. It is the only advanced degree of its kind in the Baltimore area. Graduates will be skilled in all aspects of large-scale software system design and implementation, including but not limited to:
The MSSE program is designed for those who are currently practicing in the field, or who have a background or training in computing. Individuals with bacheclor's degrees who have limited knowledge or formal training in computing may also be eligible for admission, but will be required to complete foundation courses that prepare them for the program.
A unique pallete of graduate courses offered by Loyola's Sellinger School of Business and Management are availabe to MSSE students.
