Educational Technology

The Future is Now…

Graduate study in Educational Technology at Loyola comprises a flexible, project-based curriculum that allows students to tailor their course of study as they make choices about how to apply new skills to their own work environments. This individual approach invites students of all competency levels to pursue the degree, regardless of their level of skills. The variety of choices that form the core of the Educational Technology program, combined with an intensely practical, hands-on method of study, ensure that the unique professional needs of each student are met.

While personal and professional enrichment is a primary goal of the Educational Technology program, Loyola places equal emphasis on how to best serve the schools and school systems where graduate students are employed. By offering a comprehensive course of study that blends practical applications with ethical, philosophical and theoretical perspectives, Loyola is growing the ranks of qualified technology leaders to support schools in and around Maryland. With a Loyola degree in Educational Technology, students gain knowledge and expertise in all areas designed to support the technological infrastructure of the schools. Whether planning for technology, implementing technology in the curriculum or administering a technology program, these leaders bring skills and information, which are crucial to the future health and growth of technology in education.

Programs:

"The program possesses an ongoing nature of helping each other out. My fellow students and I are a close group of colleagues and 'comrades in arms.' By setting up listserves for each class, Professor Marcovitz has created a networking type of environment that allows students to share their experiences and insights beyond the regular class time."

-Debbe Cotter,
Educational Technology Specialist and Chair, Computer Science Department
Loyola-Blakefield School.

"As a practicing technology director, I found the program's relevance and applicability most beneficial. I could apply what I was learning in class to my everyday professional experiences, and I found I was able to do that across the curriculum. Also, by offering a variety of assignments to choose from, Dr. Marcovitz gives students the opportunity to study and learn from experiences that are most relevant to our immediate professional needs."

-Veronica Walsh,
Technology Director,
Calvert Hall College.
