Master of Arts in Liberal Studies
Graduate Liberal Studies from a contemporary American perspective

The Graduate Program in Liberal  Studies consists of 12 courses of a candidate's choosing coming from three distinct perspectives, often cutting across traditional academic disciplines. The program leads to an M.A.L.S. degree that is recognized by the American Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs. Within the program's courses - clustered around historical, thematic and creative contexts-students pursue a more profound understanding of diverse topics such as: Guilt and Innocence in the 20th Century, Popular Culture in America, Issues in Urban Problems, American Political Parties, and Enterprise, Government and the Public, among many others. The outcome of this educational odyssey is the strengthening, in both the depth and breadth, of an understanding of society and our world.

Coming from a wide range of backgrounds, the individuals pursuing Liberal Studies are as eclectic as the program's curriculum. They are parents and grandparents, business owners and professionals, managers, teachers, artists, scientists and recent college graduates. They are also readers, leaders, listeners, thinkers and doers who all share discipline and dedication in their pursuit of knowledge.
