Speech-Language Pathology
Master of Science - Post-bac Foundation Program

The graduate programs in Speech-Language Pathology are dedicated to the education and development of superior professionals prepared for careers as speech-language pathologists. These programs, accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) are designed to challenge pre-professionals academically, clinically, and personally and lead to licensure eligibility.

The M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology program consists of integrated academic and clinical training in the assessment and treatment of infants, children, and adults who have communication and systems disorders. The program of study leading to the Master of Science can be completed in two years of full-time enrollment.

For individuals who have not completed foundation coursework, Loyola offers a post-baccalaureate foundation course sequence, a set of prerequisite courses that can be completed in one year of full-time or two years of half-time enrollment. This option, which can be completed in one year of full-time study, is designed for career changers, or those who have not obtained a baccalaureate degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders or a related field. Upon successful completion of the foundation phase, students are eligible to begin the clinical master's degree course sequence.

In all programs students are guided through a series of increasingly more advanced clinical training experiences as they pursue their professional training through a curriculum that provides ample opportunities to obtain supervised clinical experience, supervised observation and clinical practice experience under the guidance of an exceptional clinical faculty. Clinical placements occur in settings that include public and private schools; acute and chronic care hospitals; rehabilitation centers; health departments; home health agencies; as well as the Loyola-based clinics - The Loyola Clinical Centers.

An excellent student-to-faculty ratio, state-of-the-art clinical facilities, a wide diversity of clinical placement opportunities and excellent job placement record are hallmarks of the program.
