Graduate Assistant for Campus Ministry

Hours & Wages

Period of Employment:  

  • 10-month position: 
  • August 15- June 15 (approximately) 
  • Recipient will work approximately 15 hours per week. 

Remuneration: 

  • Tuition Remission ($4,500), and Stipend ($4,500)
  • Fall ( 220 Hours) and Spring (220 hours)
Qualifications
  • Graduate degree candidate
  • Availability for 15 hours per week
  • Commitment to nurturing own spiritual life.  Understanding of, and commitment to, Jesuit educational and spiritual values. 
  • Flexibility with regard to specific duties.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Competent in following computer applications: Microsoft Office – specifically Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint.
  • Good organizational skills, highly motivated and a demonstrated ability for (and belief in) collaboration and teamwork.
  • Ability to see a project through to completion
  • Self-directed
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in campus ministry, youth ministry, and/or student life preferred, but not required.
  • Availability for two year commitment (upon re-evaluation at the end of the first year) would be preferred, although not required.
Responsibilities

Basic Responsibilites

  • Maintains regular office hours and is a frequent presence in Campus Ministry office.
  • Attends end of summer intern retreat (August 22-24, 2007) at Rising Phoenix Retreat Center).
  • Engages in regular (weekly) supervision with supervisor.  Content may include but is not limited t feedback on job skills and performance, improvements regarding professional skills and self-care, integration of spirituality and professional skills, etc.
  • (Fall Semester) Working with a member of the professional staff, the Graduate Assistant coordinates all applications, letters of recommendation, and schedules all interviews related to Campus Ministry’s Jamaican Immersion Experience.  Serves as a point of contact for all questions related to the application process.
  • Provides administrative and clerical support as needed for The Jamaican Experience and Intern Training throughout the year.
  • (Spring Semester) Working with your primary supervisor, the Graduate Assistant coordinates all applications, letters of recommendation, and schedules all interviews, related to Campus Ministry’s Intern Application Serves as a point of contact for all questions related to the application process.
  • Assists in preparation of three (3) Sunday mini-retreats for interns as well as tracking intern participation in 3 “mini-sessions” each semester.  This information will be given to the staff periodically. 
  • Facilitates and coordinates all letters of support for participants on the senior retreat.
  • Writes condolence letters each month on behalf of the CM office.
  • Provides feedback when requested and participates in brainstorming sessions to generate ideas.
  • Coordinates and serves as a contact person for all student intern evaluations. 

Additional Duties

  • Edits, copies, drafts, and creates multiple documents, flyers, announcements for Campus Ministry as needed.
  • Updates “What if I’m not Catholic?” brochure every year (last update was in 2007).
  • Performs other assigned tasks as delegated.
