140 hours/semester (10 - 12 hours/week)
$16.00 per hour (50% stipend, 50% tuition remission)

Scope

The Graduate Research Assistant will use existing and develop new skills—research, analytical, and technical while working on projects to inform institutional decision-making and planning at the University. The Graduate Research Assistant reports to the Associate Director and Coordinator of First-year and Retention Studies.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts literature searches and develops literature reviews for current projects.

  • Assists in the coordination of survey research on campus (pencil-and-paper, Scantron, and Web-based), including administering surveys, and entering and cleaning data for analysis purposes. Examples of surveys conducted by our office are: the Admitted Student Questionnaire (ASQ); the First-year Expectations and Follow-up surveys; CIRP Freshman Survey, Your First College Year Survey (YFCY); and student, alumni and employer surveys used for program and accreditation reviews.

  • Assists in the coordination and administration of qualitative research projects.

  • Conducts statistical analysis on survey and institutional data using Excel and SPSS.

  • Assists in the production of reports for presentation, including the creation of charts, graphs, and tables.

  • Provides support for other special projects within the Office of Institutional Research, including ad hoc data requests and inter-institutional benchmarking studies.

Qualifications
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and writing skills are required.
  • Prior experience with research, statistics, survey methods are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SPSS are required.
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail are necessary.
