$14.30/hour (50% stipend, 50% scholarship)

Qualifications

Must be a Ph.D. candidate who is matriculated in the program, and who has progressed satisfactorily to the second clinical year level.

Responsibilities

The graduate student will work with one faculty member to whom he/she is assigned. Teaching assistants are expected to function in the capacity of a teacher in training for one of the faculty member’s courses. The goal of having a teaching assistant program in the Pastoral Counseling department is to provide an opportunity for doctoral level students to learn the art and science of teaching. Specific duties and responsibilities include: develop and teach, under the supervision of a faculty member, 2 to 4 lectures; videotaping of the student's lectures and joint review with the faculty member is expected; grade papers, quizzes, and tests under supervision; collect latest research and theoretical information including contacting authors for permission to use materials; producing PowerPoint slides and overheads; preparing handouts for classroom distribution; attend all classes of the assigned course and be prepared to offer input regarding course material when appropriate; with the instructor, produce and justify the final grades of students.
