Day One

 

9:00 - 11:00 a.m. - Check-in

10:15 - 11:05 a.m. - Start Your Greyhound Experience on the Right Foot: Messina and Pre-Fall Programs

Location: McManus Theatre (#3 on map)

This session will introduce Loyola’s two, first-year programs. Learn about the structure and goals of Messina and what to expect in the Fall. Also, learn about each of the five Pre-Fall Programs – one to five day themed experiences filled with community building and fun the week preceding Fall Welcome Weekend. Meet representatives from each program. Ample time will be provided for discussion and questions.

Pre-Fall Program Options: F.I.R.S.T (Find. Ignite. Reflect. Serve. Transition.), Experience: Baltimore!, MAP (Multicultural Awareness Program), Outdoor Adventure Experience, and Strategies for Success

2:20 – 3:10 p.m. - The Core as Your Academic Foundation

This is an introduction to the core curriculum and its role with regard to the various majors. Faculty advisors will offer information about course registration. Your Evergreen will direct you to the proper room for the upcoming session.

3:20 – 4:20 p.m. - Meeting with Core Advisors

Please refer to your folder for the location of your group.

4:20 – 5:20 p.m. - Meet Your Fellow Greyhounds

Location: Boulder Garden Café (#2 on map)

Use this time to meet your fellow Summer Orientation classmates as well as other Evergreens! And if you still have questions about course registration, faculty advisors will be available in Boulder Atrium to meet with you.

5:30 – 6:00 p.m. - Evening Prayer

Location: Alumni Chapel (#1 on map)

We invite all members of the Class of 2020 and their families to unite in prayer as you begin your four year journey at Loyola.

6:15 – 7:00 p.m. - Living @ Loyola

Location: McManus Theater (#3 on map)

Learn about life outside of the classroom and in the residence halls from the staff and students who live there. Topics include housing selection, living with roommates, roommate agreements, and what it means to live in community.

7:00 – 8:00 p.m. - Dinner

Location: Boulder Garden Café (#2 on map)

Enjoy summertime favorites with new friends and the Evergreen staff.

8:00 – 9:30 p.m. - Realities of College Life

Location: McManus Theatre (#3 on map)

Members of the Evergreen staff will host a live performance showing the ups and downs of your first year of college. Topics will include time management, homesickness, relationships, and fitting in. There will be a brief small group discussion following the performance.

9:30 – 11:00 p.m. - Game Night!

Location: McGuire Hall (#3 on map)

Join your new friends for trivia and board games! And never fear, we'll have a full nacho bar to conquer your late night cravings!

9:30 – 11:00 p.m. - Volleyball & Pick-Up Basketball

Location: Reitz Arena (#3 on map)

Pop into Reitz with a few of your new friends for a casual pick-up game!

10:30 p.m. - "People know me. I'm very important." Watch Anchorman up in the lobby of Newman Towers!

Location: Upper Iggy's

Join Ron Burgundy and the Evergreens for a screening of Anchorman... it will smell like rich mahogany.

Day Two

7:00 – 8:30 a.m. - Check-Out

7:00 – 8:30 a.m. - Continental Breakfast

Location: Boulder Garden Café (#2 on map)

Each student group will complete the following tasks on a different schedule. More specific information will be available from the Evergreen staff. Students will only be able to register for their courses and housing at the specific times listed for their groups.

8:00 - 2:00 p.m. - Course Registration

Location: Knott Hall (#7 on map)

This is the time where you will meet 1-1 with a faculty member to choose your fall classes.

8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. - Housing & Meal Registration

Location: Sellinger Hall (#7 on map)

This is the time to fill out your housing preference form while also selecting your meal plan for the upcoming year.

8:30 -10:00 a.m. OR 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Strong Truths About Loyola

Location: McManus Theater (#3 on map)

You will have a chance to learn about the survey data from the previous day as well as to discuss the Loyola "reality" with staff from Student Engagement and Student Support and Wellness Promotions.

8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Designated Small Group Time

Location: Various locations

Your Evergreens will share more on how to get involved and to discuss any issues or questions that may have come up over the past two days.

8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Student ID Photos
