Are you a student with a disability that is worried about your transition to college? Are you nervous about what resources are available and where to find them? Strategies for Success is a one-day workshop specifically geared for students with disabilities. Participants will move in on Tuesday, August 25 and attend a casual welcome reception that evening. (Family members are invited)
On Wednesday, August 26, Strategies for Success attendees engage in activities designed to introduce them to the services and resources that Loyola has to offer. We will have an overview of time-management techniques, study skills, requesting accommodations and taking care of oneself during college. Participants learn the importance of developing self-advocacy skills. The day ends with a dinner at a local Baltimore restaurant.
We will address the following topics:
- How do I request accommodations?
- Who can help me develop a schedule that emphasizes my strengths?
- How do I advocate for myself?
- Where are the campus resources to help me with study skills and time management?
- Where do I go when I am stressed out?
Students who attend this workshop will be able to move into their rooms on Tuesday, August 25 and attend a welcome reception with their families that evening. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, August 26 from 8:30a.m.-6:00 p.m., and includes all meals.
