Outdoor Adventure is an exciting, multi-day wilderness experience for incoming students. Students are placed in small groups with student trip leaders, exploring the natural world and reflecting on the upcoming college experience. Students will camp each night and learn the intricate skills for one of six outdoor activities. The student instructor teams will also address questions and lead discussions on issues often in the minds of first-year students as they paddle, hike, climb or cave. This experience is designed to allow incoming students to have fun, make lasting friendships, and ease the transition to college life.
Most of the students who choose to go on an Outdoor Adventure trip do not have any outdoor or camping experience prior to their trip. At the time of registration, students will rank their preferences of outdoor activities; while we do our best to take the student’s preference into account, the final activity assignment is determined by the Outdoor Adventure staff.
