How to Succeed on Final Exams
Posted on 12/1/08
Where, when and how should you study for finals? What do you do in the days preceding them? What about on the day of the exam? What do you do during, and even after, your exams? What about caffeine and other stimulants? In this 20-minute podcast, Dr. Snyder is joined by first-year student Kristen Pozzuoli, sophomore Andrew Zaleski, junior Alyssa DeLisio, and professors Brad Erford, of Education, and Bernadette Roche, of Biology, all of whom share tips on how to succeed in your final exams.
The music this time starts with the bluesy sounds of head-throbbing stress. Following the 20-minute conversation, Dr. Snyder adds a speedy synth-and-guitar exam theme that ends on a happy note.
In this cast, Dr. Snyder talks with professors Hung-bin Ding of Management/International Business, Jen Lowry of Psychology, Drew Schoeffield of Biology, Wendy Smith of Education, and Joe Walsh of Classics and History about...themselves! The professors reveal how they got into their careers, what they think about their work, and, yes, what they do in their spare time. You may be surprised what you have in common with Loyola's distinguished faculty!
The music, this time around, is just some basic 12-bar blues—at Dr. Snyder speeds, of course.
In LCAST 3, Dr. Snyder interviews senior Alex Hollis, president of Loyola's Student Government Association. Alex tells a bit about himself and discusses the new student unity movement, tomorrow’s presidential election, and how one can value the opinion of another. He also talks about school spirit, Greyhounds soccer, advising and safety initiatives, and how he balances SGA with the rest of his life.
Do you know Dr. Snyder makes all of the music for LCAST? Because students are in the throes of a difficult juncture in the semester, Dr. Snyder replaced his usual rock-style music in this cast with one that he hope lightens your mind and heart - sort of a cartoon-track that mimics the crazy schedules that students keep during this pre-Thanksgiving time of year.
As mid-terms approach, students face a host of new challenges. In this cast, senior Daniela Lancellotti, junior Steven Maex, sophomore Andrew Zaleski, first-year student Derek Musial, SGA President Alex Hollis and graduate student Christie Lovelady weigh in on how they refocus, recharge and balance the time-management and other demands that arise mid-semester.
For the first LCAST of the academic year, Dr. Snyder asks four students what their number-one tips are for academic success. In this cast, first-year student Derek Musial, sophomore Andrew Zaleski, junior Steven Maex and senior Daniela Lancellotti discuss what they think works best.
